Welcome to Mira Cooking
Where every recipe tells a story and every meal is a chance to create something beautiful.
Hi, I’m Mira, and I’m so happy you’ve found your way to my kitchen.
I’m 24 years old, living with my parents in San Diego, California, in a sunny house filled with memories. Our backyard garden is my favorite spot — I spend hours tending herbs, sketching the morning light on the flowers, and painting watercolors of tomatoes, peppers, and basil I grow each season.
The Afternoon That Sparked It All
Two years ago, on a quiet Thursday afternoon in April, I was feeling restless. I had just finished a stressful week at my part-time job and needed something to calm my mind. I wandered into the kitchen, not out of hunger, but because I needed a project, something tangible to focus on.
I opened the pantry and noticed a bag of flour. On a whim, I decided to try making bread — something I’d never done before. I found a simple no-knead recipe online, mixed flour, water, yeast, and salt, and let it sit. Hours later, I shaped it awkwardly, baked it, and when I pulled it out, the smell of fresh bread filled the house.
It wasn’t perfect — the loaf was lumpy, uneven, but that didn’t matter. For the first time that week, I felt present. I shared the bread with my parents, standing around the kitchen counter, laughing and savoring the warmth of it. That simple act sparked something in me: cooking could be calming, joyful, and deeply satisfying.
When Cooking Became a Ritual
After that first loaf, I started baking every Thursday afternoon. Each week, I experimented a little more — adjusting hydration, trying different flours, and learning how dough feels when it’s ready.
Soon, I began sharing loaves with neighbors and friends. The small gestures — giving a loaf to a mail carrier, or a neighbor who mentioned missing her grandmother’s bread — showed me how food can connect people, create joy, and bring comfort in unexpected ways.
The Little Helper Who Inspired Me
Last year, my parents started babysitting our neighbor’s daughter, Emma, who’s 5. She would quietly watch me cook at the counter, then gradually wanted to join in.
One afternoon, she carefully shaped dough beside me, her little hands pressing and folding with focus. When her mom picked her up, Emma proudly presented her first homemade loaf. The smile on her mom’s face — exhausted from a long day — reminded me that cooking isn’t just about food. It’s about creating memories, sharing love, and teaching small joys through simple actions.
From that day on, I started creating recipes with Emma in mind — dishes that are easy, fun, and can be shared with little helpers in the kitchen.
Building Mira Cooking
I started Mira Cooking about a year ago, documenting my favorite recipes, Thursday bread variations, comforting pasta dishes, and simple meals inspired by my family and friends.
The name came naturally: cooking in my kitchen is personal, creative, and a little magical. It’s my space to share what I love — recipes that are calming, approachable, and full of heart.

What Mira Cooking Is Really About
Mira Cooking started as a way to save recipes I didn’t want to forget — but it became so much more. It’s a place where I share the dishes that have shaped my life, the techniques I’ve learned through plenty of trial and error, and the joy that comes from feeding people you care about.
You’ll find recipes that range from weeknight-simple to weekend-ambitious, all tested in my real kitchen with my real ingredients (and my very real habit of forgetting to set timers).
Life Beyond the Kitchen
When I’m not cooking, I spend time painting, gardening, and sketching outdoors. These moments of creativity influence everything I do — from plating food to writing recipes. They remind me to notice beauty, move at my own pace, and cherish simple pleasures.
