This 4 Ingredient Banana Bread is a simple, sweet, and moist banana bread recipe made without cake mix, perfect for an easy breakfast, dessert, or snack. It's made using just mashed bananas, eggs, brown sugar, and self-rising flour, making it a quick one-bowl recipe ideal for when you have limited ingredients on hand.

Ingredients

Banana Bread Ingredients

  • 1½ cups mashed banana (about 3 medium bananas)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup (150 g) brown sugar
  • 2 cups (240 g) self-rising flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (170°C). Line a 9x5 inch loaf pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on two sides to easily lift the bread out later.
  2. Mash Bananas and Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, mash 3 to 4 medium bananas until you have about 1½ cups of mashed banana. Whisk in the 2 large eggs and ¾ cup brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Add Flour: Whisk 2 cups of self-rising flour into the wet banana mixture gently until just combined. If desired, now is the time to fold in any additional ingredients such as nuts or chocolate chips for extra flavor and texture.
  4. Pour and Top Batter: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pan. Optionally, you can top the batter with a sliced banana and sprinkle a little more brown sugar for added sweetness and a decorative touch.
  5. Bake: Bake the banana bread in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Avoid overbaking to keep it moist.
  6. Cool: Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, using the parchment paper overhang, lift the bread out of the pan. Let it cool fully on a wire rack at room temperature for at least one hour before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftover banana bread in an airtight container or wrap tightly with plastic wrap at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for an additional 2 to 3 days.
  • You may add nuts, chocolate chips, or spices such as cinnamon for extra flavor.
  • Ensure not to overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
  • Use ripe bananas for best sweetness and moisture.
