These Mini Donuts are perfectly soft, fluffy, and baked to golden perfection, making them a delightful homemade morning treat. Made with simple pantry ingredients and finished with a dusting of powdered sugar, they offer a sweet bite-sized indulgence that's easy to prepare and share.

Ingredients

Baked Mini Donuts:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

To Finish:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a 12-count mini donut pan thoroughly with baking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk these dry ingredients together until well blended.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Pour in the whole milk, crack in the large egg, add melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry mix. Whisk all together until the batter is smooth and uniform.
  4. Fill Donut Pan: Transfer the batter to a piping bag for easy filling. Pipe the batter into the donut pan cavities about 3/4 full, ensuring even portions.
  5. Bake Donuts: Bake the donuts in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes until they are golden and spring back when lightly pressed. Carefully remove from the pan and place onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Repeat Baking: Bake the remaining batter in two more batches, repeating the filling, baking, and removing process until all donuts are baked.
  7. Coat Donuts: While baking subsequent batches, toss the cooled donuts in powdered sugar until they are fully coated. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • Use a piping bag or a resealable plastic bag with the corner snipped off for easier donut pan filling.
  • Make sure not to overfill the donut cavities to avoid overflow while baking.
  • Donuts are best enjoyed the same day for optimal freshness but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • For a flavored twist, try adding cinnamon or nutmeg to the dry ingredients.
  • Ensure the melted butter is cooled slightly before mixing to avoid cooking the egg prematurely.
