Ingredients

Slider Ingredients

  • Nonstick cooking spray - a light spray for greasing ($0.01)
  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls ($2.68)
  • 1 lb. rotisserie chicken, shredded (about 4 cups) ($3.97)
  • ¼ red onion, small dice (about ¼ cup, 60g) ($0.26)
  • ½ cup mayonnaise (135g) ($0.57)
  • 2 oz. cream cheese, softened ($0.49)
  • ½ tsp salt ($0.02)
  • ¼ tsp freshly cracked black pepper ($0.04)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder ($0.02)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated (100g) ($0.79)

Butter Mixture

  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted ($0.22)
  • 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard ($0.07)
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce ($0.05)
  • 1 Tbsp everything bagel seasoning ($0.23)

Instructions

  1. Preheat: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x11-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray to prevent the sliders from sticking.
  2. Prepare Rolls: Slice the 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls in half lengthwise. Place the bottom halves evenly in the prepared baking dish to form the slider base.
  3. Mix Chicken Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the shredded rotisserie chicken, diced red onion, mayonnaise, softened cream cheese, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  4. Assemble Sliders: Spread the chicken mixture evenly over the bottom halves of the Hawaiian rolls in the baking dish. Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese evenly on top of the chicken mixture.
  5. Prepare Butter Topping: In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and everything bagel seasoning until well combined.
  6. Add Top Rolls and Brush: Place the top halves of the Hawaiian rolls over the cheese layer. Using a brush, evenly coat the tops of the rolls with the prepared butter mixture for flavor and browning.
  7. Cover and Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake on the center rack of the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  8. Finish Baking: Remove the foil and continue baking uncovered for an additional 10 minutes to allow the tops to brown and the cheese to melt fully.
  9. Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving warm. Enjoy your flavorful chicken sliders!

Notes

  • Using rotisserie chicken saves time and adds moisture and flavor to the sliders.
  • Make sure to slice the rolls carefully to keep them intact for easy serving.
  • The everything bagel seasoning adds a savory, slightly crunchy topping, but you can substitute with sesame seeds or poppy seeds if desired.
  • These sliders can be made a few hours ahead and reheated covered in the oven at 325°F until warmed through.
  • For spicier sliders, consider adding a dash of hot sauce or chopped jalapeños to the chicken mixture.
