Delicious and smoky grilled sweet potatoes, sliced and seasoned with olive oil, garlic salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Perfect as a healthy side dish, these tender grilled rounds are cooked to perfection on a gas grill, offering a delightful combination of smoky flavor and natural sweetness.

Ingredients

Sweet Potatoes

  • 4 sweet potatoes, cut into ¼” - ½” discs

Seasoning & Oil

  • 3 Tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Grill: Preheat your gas grill to high heat. To prevent sticking, oil the grill grates unless you prefer cooking the sweet potato slices on a grill pan for easier handling.
  2. Prepare the Sweet Potatoes: In a large bowl, combine the sliced sweet potatoes with olive oil, ground black pepper, garlic salt, and smoked paprika. Toss well to coat each slice evenly with the seasoning and oil.
  3. Grill the Potatoes: Reduce the grill heat to medium. Place the seasoned sweet potato slices directly on the grill or the grill pan. Grill for about 10 minutes on each side, or until the potatoes become tender and can be easily pierced with a fork.
  4. Serve and Season: Transfer the grilled sweet potatoes to a serving bowl. Taste and add additional salt if desired. Serve warm as a flavorful side dish.

Notes

  • Oiling the grill grates is essential to prevent sticking if cooking directly on them.
  • Adjust cooking time if slices are thicker or thinner to ensure they become tender but not mushy.
  • You can use other seasonings like chili powder or cumin for different flavor variations.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated on a skillet or grill.
