Sweet, tart, and refreshing, this Homemade Raspberry Iced Tea combines the robust flavors of black tea with the fresh taste of raspberry syrup, creating a perfect summer beverage that's far superior to store-bought versions. Easy to prepare in just 10 minutes, it's ideal for gatherings and warm days, served chilled with optional fresh raspberries or mint for garnish.

Ingredients

Tea Base

  • 10-12 black tea bags (Lipton recommended)
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 3 cups cold water

Additional Flavoring

  • 1 ½ cups raspberry syrup
  • Fresh raspberries and/or mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Tea Bags: Remove the tea bags from their packaging, tie them together to keep them grouped, and clip off the paper tags to prevent any bitterness from the strings during steeping.
  2. Brew the Tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium heat in a medium saucepan. Once boiling, remove from heat and immerse the tied tea bags into the hot water. Allow them to steep for 5 minutes to extract a strong and flavorful tea base. After steeping, remove the tea bags and gently press them to release any remaining tea before discarding.
  3. Mix and Sweeten: Pour the brewed tea into a large pitcher, then add 3 cups of cold water to cool the mixture. Stir in 1 ½ cups of raspberry syrup thoroughly to infuse the tea with a sweet, tangy raspberry flavor.
  4. Cool and Serve: Let the raspberry iced tea mixture cool completely, either at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Serve over ice cubes for maximum refreshment. Optionally, garnish with fresh raspberries or mint leaves to enhance the presentation and add a subtle fresh aroma.

Notes

  • This recipe yields approximately 7 cups of raspberry iced tea.
  • For a less sweet version, adjust the amount of raspberry syrup to taste.
  • Use black tea bags of your preferred brand for optimal flavor.
  • Allow the tea to cool adequately before refrigerating to avoid affecting the taste and clarity.
