These Reindeer Rice Krispie Treats are a fun and festive holiday snack that's perfect for kids and adults alike. Soft, chewy, and sweet, they are decorated with candy eyes, chocolate-covered pretzels as antlers, and M&M noses, making them a delightful and adorable treat to share during the holiday season.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons salted butter
  • 10 ounces mini marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 cups Rice Krispie Cereal (or similar puffed rice cereal)

Decorations

  • 32 pieces candy eyeballs
  • 16 pieces M&M chocolates (red or brown for noses)
  • 16 pieces chocolate covered pretzels (cut in half lengthwise; regular mini pretzels can be used)
  • ½ cup white chocolate candy melts (or vanilla almond bark)

Instructions

  1. Prepare baking dish: Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper and set aside. If parchment is unavailable, lightly grease the pan to prevent sticking.
  2. Melt butter and marshmallows: In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter completely. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously using a silicone spatula lightly sprayed with cooking oil to prevent sticking, until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Add vanilla and cereal: Remove the saucepan from heat. Quickly stir in the vanilla extract, then add the Rice Krispie cereal. Stir immediately and thoroughly until the cereal is well coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  4. Press mixture into pan: Pour the combined mixture into the prepared baking dish. Place another piece of parchment paper on top of the mixture and gently but firmly press it down to create an even layer. Allow the mixture to cool completely at room temperature for at least one hour until firm.
  5. Cut into pieces: Once cool, carefully lift the Rice Krispie treat sheet using the parchment paper and place it on a cutting board. Cut into 16 equal rectangles, approximately 2 inches wide by 3 inches long.
  6. Melt white chocolate: Place white chocolate candy melts in a small heatproof bowl. Melt according to package instructions at half power, stirring until a smooth consistency is reached. Transfer the melted chocolate to a freezer-safe zip-top bag and snip a small corner to create a piping bag for decoration.
  7. Decorate reindeer treats: Use a small dot of melted white chocolate to attach two pretzel halves as antlers, two candy eyeballs, and one M&M nose on each treat to create reindeer faces. Allow the chocolate to cool fully and harden, securing the decorations in place.
  8. Serve and enjoy: Once the decorations are set, the Reindeer Rice Krispie Treats are ready to serve as a festive holiday snack.

Notes

  • If parchment paper is unavailable, grease the baking dish thoroughly with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  • Mini marshmallows melt more evenly, ensuring a smooth mixture for the treats.
  • Chocolate-covered pretzels give the best antler effect, but regular mini pretzels can be substituted if preferred.
  • You can substitute vanilla almond bark for white chocolate candy melts if desired.
  • Ensure the treats cool completely before decorating to prevent melting or sliding of toppings.
