These Tuna Patties are a quick and flavorful seafood dish made with canned tuna, seasoned breadcrumbs, and a blend of spices. Perfect for a light lunch or dinner, they are pan-fried to a perfect golden brown and served warm with optional lemon wedges and tartar sauce for added zest.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 Cans Chunk light tuna (drained well)
  • 3/4 Cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 Cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 Cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp Fresh lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp No-salt Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 1-2 tsp Hot sauce
  • 3 Green onions (minced)
  • 1 Large egg
  • 2-3 Tbsp Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, add the drained tuna, panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, mayonnaise, fresh lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, black pepper, hot sauce, minced green onions, and the large egg. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are fully combined and form a uniform mixture.
  2. Form Patties: Shape the tuna mixture into 6 evenly sized patties. Place them carefully on a plate, preparing them for cooking.
  3. Heat Oil: In a large skillet, heat 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat to prepare for frying the patties.
  4. Cook Patties: Add the patties to the hot skillet. Cook each side for 4 to 5 minutes, or until the patties are golden brown and heated through. Avoid overcrowding the pan for an even sear.
  5. Drain Excess Oil: Transfer the cooked patties onto a paper towel-lined plate briefly to remove any excess oil and keep them crisp.
  6. Serve: Serve the tuna patties warm, optionally garnished with lemon wedges, tartar sauce, and fresh minced parsley for enhanced flavor.

Notes

  • If you prefer a spicier kick, increase the hot sauce to your taste.
  • Make sure to drain the tuna well to avoid soggy patties.
  • You can substitute panko with regular breadcrumbs if needed, though panko gives a lighter texture.
  • For a dairy-free option, omit the Parmesan cheese or replace it with a non-dairy alternative.
  • These patties can be frozen after shaping; thaw before cooking for convenience.
